one of life's great mysteries

Spring cleaning project #1:
Get rid of clothes.

I have a bad habit of keeping clothes from season to season with the vain hope that I'll wear it next year. That never happens and next thing I know, I've packed, unpacked, moved and re-moved with a sweater I haven't worn since high school. That practice is now a thing of the past.

Usually the things I hate to get rid of are pieces that are still in good shape and style, but ultimately, if I'm not wearing it, I don't need it.

Step 1: Sort out the good, the bad and the ugly.
Anything worn, faded or damaged heads straight for the scrap pile, destined to become cleaning rags. I usually try to hand off anything that's still good to friends, and anything else is donated to the local Boys and Girls Club.

Step 2: Get things back in order
Purging clothes always gives me lots more space to work with. I can finally get designated drawers back to normal — socks and underwear drawer, pajama drawer, workout clothes drawer, etc.

This process has become more important now that I have a husband who shares half of my closet space. I should add his and her closets to the dream house wish list.

This is also a great time to assess what you have and what you need. In the case of husband, he almost always needs new socks. Why is it that boys go through socks so much quicker than girls? So I asked:

Me: Why are so many of your socks dirty looking with holes?
Husband: *shrug*
Me: Do you wear them outside?
Husband: No.
Me: Then why?
Husband: I guess it's just one of life's great mysteries.

Hmm .. I guess we'll never know.

  1. Haha so true! I have the same problem with my hubs. When I see him wearing a pair with a hole in the toes, I grab it off his foot and cut it in half so he can't wear it again!

  2. I'm new to developing websites and I was wondering if having your blog title related to your content really that critical? I see your title, "Blogger: like a hamster on a wheel " does appear to be spot on with what your blog is about yet, I prefer to keep my title less content descriptive and based more around site branding. Would you think this is a good idea or bad idea? Any kind of assistance would be greatly valued.
